DeAnne House

Director

I have three degrees; Psychology from the Highlands University in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Geology from the University of Colorado in Boulder and Early Childhood Education from San Juan College. I am licensed as a Certified Addictions Counselor III and have 6 years experience working in Addictions Counseling for the Ute Mountain Tribe’s Substance Abuse Program. I currently reside in the State of Colorado and am continuing my leadership role in Tribal Government.

Prior to obtaining the Directorship of the Mógúán Behavioral Health Center, I served on Tribal Council for five years as Treasurer of Council. I worked as the Grants and Contracts Administrator for the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe, managing over 100 grants in excess of $40 million annually. I served as a board member for Weeminuche Construction Company and was responsible for overseeing numerous multi-million-dollar construction projects such as water and wastewater projects, affordable housing projects, and transportation projects.

In 2015 I was named the Ute Mountain Tribe’s Tiwahe Initiative Chairwoman, making me responsible for the architectural design of a holistic system of care. Tiwahe (ti wah-hay) means family in the Lakota language and symbolizes the interconnectedness of all living things and one's personal responsibility to honor family, community, and the environment. The Tiwahe Initiative is part of the President's commitment to protect and promote the development of prosperous and resilient tribal communities.
