Privacy Practices

This disclosure is intended to provide important information regarding the practices, policies and procedures used at the Mógúán Behavioral Health Services (MBHS) as it relates to psychotherapy. Furthermore, it aims to clarify the terms of the professional therapeutic relationship between client and therapist.

Client rights:
You are entitled to receive information about methods of therapy, the techniques used and duration of therapy. You can seek a second opinion from another therapist or terminate therapy at any time. In a professional relationship, sexual intimacy is never appropriate and should be reported to the Department of Regulatory Agencies. Generally speaking, the information provided by a client during therapy sessions is confidential. This information is confidential and the therapist cannot disclose it without client consent.

Exceptions to the general rule of legal confidentiality:
Matters regarding your psychotherapy will be kept confidential except in the following circumstances:

  1. You sign a release (ROI) giving permission to release information to a specific agency or individual.

  2. You express the intent to harm yourself or others.

  3. Anything regarding abuse, neglect or suspected abuse of children, the elderly or other at-risk individuals.

  4. You express terroristic threats.

MBHS, or any therapist working for MBHS, will not testify in court on any case, if asked, due to the damage this can do to the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist.

Client records:
Client records will be maintained for seven years. After that time, records may be destroyed.

Every effort will be made to return calls within 24 hours, Monday through Friday.
